epic.

the other day I became a fan of a page on facebook titled ‘I wish music played during epic moments of my life and not just in movies’.  phew…  that’s a lot to say.

It’s true though.  I imagine myself with my iPhone always at the ready.  waiting for that moment and pausing time to find the perfect song before I press play again.

Today it happened by accident.  No, I wasn’t holding my iPhone just waiting for it.  I was standing next to the stove reading my book.  Olivia, my daughter, was watching a movie.  I looked up from my book, inhaled the wonderful scent of banana muffins and felt the warmth from the oven on my legs.  The Christmas tree lights glittered as the light outside the window faded…

and the music from the movie swelled.  Nothing extraordinary or complex.  It started slowly and quietly and as I looked up at my home, the tree, the cooling muffins, the warm lamp light, it swelled, louder and longer.  My heart swelled with it and for a second I thought it might burst.

I guess it wasn’t necessarily an ‘epic’ moment, but it was *my* moment.

  1. ha! I’ve always told my husband that life should be like a musical… just people breaking out into song and dance during those key moments.

Since I can’t ACTUALLY sing or dance I think I like your method of holding the phone out and waiting for the moment better. ;) hahaa!!!
